MEET LATANYA

The former Honorable La'Tanya Boyce, a dedicated public servant and thought leader, served as Probate Judge for Otero County, New Mexico. Born on October 5, 1955, in St. Louis, Missouri, she has lived in various states across the U.S. and in many countries around the world before settling in Alamogordo, New Mexico in 1971.

Her professional journey began in the title business back in 1990, starting out as a receptionist with Otero Land & Title Company. Through hard work and determination, she climbed through the ranks to become a Title Officer/Examiner with Casa Y Tierra Title Company and Alamogordo Title Company. She would go on to retire in 2021 as a Closer for Network Closing Service, Inc. 

As Alamogordo’s next mayor, she aims to address several pressing issues facing the city, including youth and gun-related violence, truancy, road improvement, poverty & homelessness, mental health, and the substance abuse epidemic that is rampant citywide. Former Judge Boyce also intends to devote significant attention to making infrastructure and technology upgrades to the police department, while also hiring more officers and investing more heavily in their training.

In her personal life, the former judge is a devoted Christian and committed member of the Joy Center ministry in Alamogordo, where she is an Ordained Elder. She has been involved in a Prison Ministry, making frequent visits to the Otero County Detention Center to share her faith with inmates. She also served for 15 years as the Executive Producer/Director for the Women's Breakthrough Prayer Ministry, under the leadership of the former President, Eloise Jones (now deceased).

As a servant-leader with extensive community involvement and broad-spectrum public service experience, former Judge La’Tanya Boyce is the ideal choice to head the wonderful city of Alamogordo, New Mexico as its next mayor. Her deep understanding of the community, coupled with her demonstrated commitment to serving it, set her apart from all the other candidates. With proven leadership skills and a track record of effective community service, she is the right fit for the city's top leadership position, and she is more than ready to tackle the challenges ahead and guide Alamogordo toward a brighter future.
